Sometimes we can go crazy with ideas for our home. Then, when we look at the place we have, we're presented with one little problem: there is nowhere to put everything we wanted.
I've been in that situation quite a few times and I've learned a thing or two on how to maximize the space we have and still end up with something beautiful.

Here are some tips to help you avoid getting into a sticky situation:

I've been in that situation quite a few times and I've learned a thing or two on how to maximize the space we have and still end up with something beautiful.

Here are some tips to help you avoid getting into a sticky situation:
Tip No.1: Think Tall and Wide

When thinking of decor, choose designs that are floor-to-ceiling such as book shelves and display cabinets.

Another tip is to choose extra-long drapes and then hang them several inches above the frame to make your windows appear taller than they really are.

Tip No.2: Choose The Right Color

When you want  a small space to appear larger, steer clear of dark-colored paints. Dark colors will reduce the reflection of light within the room, which will make it seem that the room is smaller.

Choose light shades such as beige, light grey or other warm colors. Light colors can make the room look spacious and open.

Tip No.3: Mirror, Mirror

Mirrors create an optical illusion to make your space seem wider and bigger. Place your mirrors strategically where it will reflect the most light.

An ideal spot is for a mirror to be placed across a window to maximize the illusion.

Tip No.4: Choose Multi-Functional Furniture

With limited space, it's time to pick something versatile furniture to maximize your space. For instance, look for convertible sofa that also has extra storage underneath.

You should pick a dining table that is expandable or a coffee table which has extra storage. In order to maximize your space, you will need furniture that is also maximized when it comes to functionality.

Tip No.5: Flooring Options

Your flooring will have a big impact to the overall look of your room. For me, wide floor planks are best when creating an illusion of bigger space.

Aside from the gorgeous aesthetic element they provide, wider planks allow us to focus on other elements of the room. Narrow planks can overwhelm us with the floor design since they create a busy appearance.
