Contrary to popular belief, packing light does not mean sacrificing comfort or style but it definitely requires some serious thinking or strategy.

After many years of traveling, I have learned some important lessons on how to pack light in style.

Light packing starts with a sturdy but light foundation: the suitcase.

Get a suitcase that is considered ultralight, like the ones from Delsey. Make sure that it has enough pockets and compartments to help keep you organized, and that it’s as roomy as possible without exceeding your airline’s size requirements.

When it comes to what kind of clothes to pack, consider choosing the lighter fabrics.

Go to your closet and check for the clothes that are made of silk and synthetics such as nylon.

It will be better if you do not pack more than a week's worth of clothes.

Shoes can be quite tricky to pack since it is a balancing act between style, bulk and comfort.

The shoes that you bring should be multi-use unless you are going to attend a specific occasion.

Ultimately, it is up to you what kind of shoes you are more comfortable with. Just keep in mind what kind of itinerary you have and if it involves a lot of walking.

If you can choose the right kind of gadgets to travel with, you can save a lot of weight and space.

You can store dozens of books in one small device as long as it has enough memory. Just make sure you don not forget the charger of your electronics.

Are you now ready to travel?
